
40-year-old Nigerian boxer Segun “Success” Olanrewaju has already D after he collapsed in a boxing match in Ghana!
The former national and West African lightweight champion faced Accra-born John Mbanugu, who was nicknamed “Power” on a bot-card in Ghana’s professional boxing league when the incident took place on the Bukom boxing stage on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
Olanrewaju suddenly fell in the midfield battle, prompting the referee to immediately call for medical assistance.
Medical professionals rushed to the scene, but despite attempts to revive him, the 40-year-old boxer was declared D3AD, with reports suggesting he may have suffered cardiac arrest.
Fight videos shared on social media show that both boxers traded a punch violently before Olanrewaju stumbled and collapsed, leaving only 15 seconds left in the third round of the scheduled eight-round match.
The boxing world suddenly appears after his sudden D3ATH and is mourned.
Olanrewaju, a respected figure in Nigerian boxing, previously held the national and West African lightweight titles.
Lagos-born Olanrewaju has an extensive boxing career, participating in 23 professional battles, winning 13 victories and 12 knockout matches, according to BoxRec.
He suffered eight failures and recorded two draws in his career.
However, he has been struggling in recent years, and he lost four consecutive times before his miserable D3ATH.
His most recent battle was on December 24, 2024, defeating Idowu Raheed at the Campus Mini Stadium in Lagos.
