A shocking video surfaced, showing 40-year-old Nigerian boxer Segun “successfully” Olanrewaju collapsed and died in a boxing match in Ghana.
Olanrewaju is a former national and West African lightweight champion, confronting John Mbanugu (also known as “power”) in a trump card battle at the Ghana Professional Boxing League in Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
During the game, he suddenly fell onto the canvas, prompting the referee to call for immediate medical assistance.
Despite the rapid response from medical staff, Orlandruju was pronounced dead, and reports suggest he may have suffered cardiac arrest.
A video shared on social media showed both fighters swapped strikes, and then Olanrewaju had only 15 seconds left in the third round of the scheduled eight-round match. The boxing world is now mourning his sudden death.
His last battle took place on December 24, 2024, where he lost to Iduwa Rashid at the Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos.
