Nigerian football player Abubakar Lawal allegedly fell from a third-floor balcony in a shopping mall in Uganda.
Ugandan police confirmed the footballer’s @T in a post on Monday, February 24.
Lawal “started from the third floor of Voice Mall Shopping Arcade starting on the morning of February 24, 2024”.
Preliminary reports said the football player “arrived at the shopping mall with his vehicle, registration number UBQ 695G” and he was meeting with “the Tanzanian country that lives in Room 416 since February 20, 2024, his friend Omary Naima “His friend, Omary Naima.”
“According to Naima, she left the law in the tea-preparing room and headed to the game center inside the shopping mall,” the police report read.
“Short after, Lawal reportedly fell off the balcony at about 8:00 am. He was taken to the Entebbe referral hospital where he was declared de@d.”
Authorities added that CCTV footage of the facility had been retrieved and interrogation was conducted to determine what was happening around the incident.
Lawal is the forward of Viper SC, a club for Uganda football’s top flight.
He moved to Uganda in 2022 to join Kigali SC in Rwanda.
The forward had been with Kano pillar FC, Wikki Tourists FC and Nasarawa for the Nigerian Prime Minister Football League (NPFL) before moving to the mainland.
