A 52-year-old Nigerian man, Kelechi Godwin, faces legal trouble after allegedly forged documents to secure a Zimbabwe residence permit between 2009 and 2014.
Prosecutors claim that Godwin filed a fraudulent spouse support letter, claiming they were set out from his wife, Godwin, even though she has lived outside Zimbabwe since 2008. He reportedly brought another woman to an immigration interview and introduced her as his wife, trying to deceive officials.
False documents resulted in the issuance of multiple spouse residence permits, which undermined the integrity of the immigration department. Goldwin was released on bail under certain conditions on April 15, 2025, including paying $400, staying at the listing address, avoiding contact with witnesses, and reporting to the Bulawayo Central Police Department twice a week. With the investigation into the matter, he plans to return to court on April 30, 2025.
