A 34-year-old Nigerian man identified as Quam Babatunde is underway for an M8RDER investigation after being stabbed in D3ATH in Dublin, Ireland.
The incident occurred in the city center of Dublin at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Attorney General Jim O’Callaghan confirmed the victim’s nationality, saying violence on the streets of Dublin was “unacceptable”.
Speaking with Justin McCarthy this week, O’Callaghan said he would not want to introduce the man in detail because he has not yet publicly identified.
“I’m sure, trying to tell his family about the catastrophic consequences that happened in the early hours of Saturday morning,” he said.
The victim is said to be an asylum seeker, and is understood to be a social event at a concert before the incident.
After 3 a.m. Saturday, Gardaí was called in the incident on the House of Lords at South Anne Street/Duke Lane. A man was found there to be severely injured and slow to respond.
Emergency service personnel were treated on site and were transferred to a hospital, and he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The stabbing was in a massive public order incident, and it was understood that before the violence spread to the streets, there was a occurrence between two groups of people who had socialized on the venue.
Gardaí is working on CCTV videos and social media videos.
The second man is currently receiving treatment in the hospital and is injured due to life-threatening threats.
Videos of the incident are widely present on social media. A video has been widely shared, showing a large number of people on the street. A man obviously armed with a knife.
When asked if he had seen the related video, O’Calaghan confirmed that he had it.
“It’s a shocking shot, people carrying knives and involved in violence with the rest of his people need to know that An Garda Síochána has made good progress in identifying them,” the attorney general said.
“I also want to send a message that carrying knives and violence in the streets in Ireland is unacceptable and they are unacceptable.”
He also added that Gardaí needed better technology, including facial recognition, to work more effectively.
“From the video we saw yesterday’s moment, you will know that Gardaí had to track these people according to CCTV.
“Face recognition technology is very helpful to Gardayi and will speed up the investigation process, which is why I hope the opposition will support this legislation when it comes to Daayi.”
One person was killed and one injured after the stabbing attack in Dublin, Ireland.
The attack happened early this morning, with the bar kicking out of the city center.
