
Nigerian national UWA Nosakhare was sentenced to six years in federal prison for orchestrating a fraudulent plan involving simulations of property owners and fraudulent negotiations in Miami, Florida.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced this in a statement on Monday, April 7, 2025.
According to the statement, the verdict came after the defendant pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft and mail fraud in January.
Between April 2022 and April 2023, Nosakhare (26) and others attempted to sell vacant plots in Palm Beach County, Florida without authorization from the owner.
The fraudster uses personally identifiable information (PII) of the property owner and other victims, and without knowledge, uses a forged driver’s license, notarized certificate, bank account statement and several other property sales documents.
After the fraudulent real estate sale is completed, wire instructions are provided to buyers to transfer the proceeds of sales to a bank account controlled by the person involved in the program.
