Nigerian woman slams embassy in Sweden over passport service, shares experience

    • A Nigerian woman has criticized the Nigerian Embassy in Sweden after Nigerians seeking passport services were rejected due to an alleged lack of connections to Abuja, leaving many in distress and frustration.

A Nigerian woman has accused the Nigerian embassy in Sweden of poor service, accusing officials of failing to assist Nigerians in renewing or issuing passports.

    Sharing her experience on

According to her, several Nigerians traveled to Sweden from different parts of Europe for the same purpose but were turned away after spending money to buy air tickets.

“I went to the Nigerian Embassy in Sweden yesterday to renew my passport.

You won’t believe what happened. People come from all over Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Sweden just to get their biometric information. None of them were captured. The excuse given was “no connection with Abuja”.

All of us, reservations or not, ended up leaving empty-handed. The cost of flights, trains, and ferries is just wasted. We were just told to come back anytime.

Nigeria is such a shameful country. This is not the first time this has happened, and it is not limited to the embassy in Sweden. Other embassies face the same problem. The Ambassador to Sweden is a truly kind man. He kept coming down to speak to us and express his sympathy.

The Nigerian Embassy in Sweden has long been one of the best passport renewal embassies in Europe. In the past, you could go there and walk out with your new passport the same day. But now that they no longer have the authority to print passports, all hell breaks loose.

One guy I met there said it was his second trip from Finland, only to have the same problem again (no contact). He refused to go home, saying he couldn’t afford another ticket, so he decided to stay in a hotel.

“This is the first time I have seen or heard of a citizen going to the embassy of his own country to make an appointment, only to be rejected because he had “no contact” with the headquarters, and there was no compensation for travel expenses. Nothing!”
