    • In 2025, Spotify users in Nigeria played more than 1.3 billion hours of music and podcasts.
    • This circulation time is equivalent to approximately 149,000 years.
    • The data was shared in Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped report released on November 3.

Spotify has announced that Nigerian users will spend more than 1.3 billion hours playing music and podcasts on the platform by 2025, equivalent to about 149,000 years.

The streaming giant shared the data in its 2025 Wrapped report released on Wednesday, November 3. These figures highlight a significant increase in overall listening time and reflect the rising popularity of Nigerian artists.

The report also revealed a surge in interest in locally produced music, with streaming numbers increasing by 82% compared to 2024. Daily music streams increased by 23%, indicating that Nigerians are consuming more music than ever before.

Podcast engagement has also grown significantly, with total time spent listening to podcasts increasing by 97%. Additionally, podcast creation has increased by 48% as more Nigerians get involved in content production.

Faith-based content dominates podcast charts this year, demonstrating a strong inclination toward spirituality and reflective listening among Nigerian users.

Spotify’s latest “listening age” data shows that the average age of Nigerian listeners on the platform is 25 years old.

On the artist front, Wizkid holds the title of the most played Nigerian musician on Spotify in 2025.

@phoenixx4ty: “8760 hours of use per year, or 148,402 years.”

@johnboydgafx: “Nigerian music fans continue to grow and I pity artists who are neglecting their homeland.”

@heAdehimself: “Nigeria has a population of 220 million hypothetical: if 220 million people only listen to 5 hours, that’s 1.1 Billuin hours.”

@cocoa_lore: “Haha, let’s say Nigeria has 2 million Spotify users and 1.3 billion hours… 650 hours per person = 27 days a year, how much? + people play music for hours at parties, while cooking, cleaning, etc.”

@chinemerem14501: “Tf, over 148,000 years of listening time. Time that could have been used to gain some reputation in this country. Nigerians are funny, you people spend all this time listening to music. Lazy citizens. If this time was spent criticizing the government, there would be change.”

@smartycoded10: “Zinoleesky cost about 500 million hours to Nigerians alone.”

@de_biggestbird: “Nigerians can no longer find jobs.”
