Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle’s Super Hawks revealed why Osimhen and Lubiman were excluded from the 2025 Unified Cup.
Super Hawks head coach Eric Chelle provides insight into the team selection for the upcoming Unity Cup Championship in London. Despite the names of Moses Simon, Stanley Nwabali, Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa, there are no famous players like Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
Chel stressed that the game provides valuable opportunities to test new strategies and gives new faces a chance to prove themselves.
He said “Participating in the Unity Cup will allow us to evaluate players in different positions and strengthen our team before a key game later this year.”
The Unity Cup will be held later this month and will integrate family and international players.
This year’s edition will be held at the GTECH Community Stadium in Brentford, West London, with teams from Nigeria, Jamaica, Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago, with seating of 17,250.
The action begins on Tuesday, May 27, with Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica facing in the historic British “Trini-Jam” semifinal. The next day, Nigeria and Ghana will renew their 74-year-old competition in the second semifinal.
The competition will end on Saturday, May 31, with third place and finals to win the 2025 Unity Cup title.
