The Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) has written to the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to obtain recognition for the withdrawal of the Labor Party leadership led by Julius Abure.
NLC President Joe Ajaero revealed this in Abuja, who also revealed Congress’ plans to take over party secretariats in the states in surprise, under the control of abusive loyalists.
Ajaero said ahead of the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the NLC, Ajaero said the acquisition plan will be completed and implemented soon.
“We have written to INEC and on the day of the NEC meeting everything else will be decided there,” he said. We’re going to do this because that’s it. The Labor Party is an institutional party owned by the trade union. ”
The development marks an intensified rift between the NLC and the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Julius Able, whose term has ended.
Tensions escalated after the party’s controversial convention held by Nnewi in Anambra state, and the NLC refused to admit it. Congress argues that Abure’s ongoing leadership violated a previous agreement between party stakeholders and the union.
“It is ridiculous to have anyone claim ownership of the Labor Party without a union,” Ajaro said.Labour is related to the trade union movement. This is not an empty shell. ”
Surprise action plan
Although the NLC did not disclose a specific date for the planned state secretariat to take over, Ajaero hinted that the elements of surprise were crucial to their strategy.
“We are working hard. That’s why we didn’t announce the date. But we ask every worker to stand by,” he said.
He added that any attempt to file a sole claim against Labor without the participation of the workers would constitute “steal. ”
“Labor’s certificate in this office,” Ajaro announced.
The NLC vowed to continue to push for leadership reforms within the party, warning that the union movement would not allow Labour to be hijacked by the so-called “charlatans”.
