Popular Nigerian content creator Habib Hamzat, popularly known as Pele, has spoken candidly about his ordeal after being arrested and detained for a week following a car accident on the Lekki-Epe highway.
The arrest comes at a difficult time for the teen anchor, who was already dealing with emotional turmoil after publicly revealing a painful breakup on social media. In a live broadcast before the accident, Peller appeared overwhelmed and expressed how deeply the heartbreak had affected him.
It was reported that shortly after the emotional episode aired, he lost control of his vehicle and hit a roadside culvert, causing panic among onlookers who quickly intervened and rushed him to a nearby hospital.
Reflecting on his time in detention, Peller said the emotional pain, accidents and unexpected arrest left him mentally and physically exhausted. He explained that his mental state affected his appetite, making it difficult for him to eat while in captivity as he struggled to digest what had happened.
The content creator also said he repeatedly told police the accident was not intentional, but his explanation was allegedly dismissed. Despite his pleas, he was detained for a full week.
Adding to his frustration, Peller revealed that several celebrities he thought would support him did not do so while he was in detention. According to him, only a few people reached out to help, a realization that deeply affected him.
Recalling that painful moment, he said:
“I asked a lot of celebrities to help me in my life; I’ll tell you who came and who didn’t. No one cared about me; I looked like a useless boy.”
Despite his ordeal, Peller expressed his sincere gratitude to the fans who supported him and advocated for his release. He described their support as priceless, noting that it helped him get through one of the darkest periods of his life and that he remains deeply grateful for their loyalty.
