Nigerian comedian Damilola Adekola, popularly known as the “Laughter Merchant” has spoken out following the release of Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha.
Baba Ijesha was previously convicted of assaulting a minor and sentenced to 16 years in prison, but was released hours ago.
In an Instagram video, Adekola issued a warning to landlords, schools and women to be aware of the actor, stressing that he had harmed not only her adopted daughter but 12 other victims. She stressed that any place he had lived or could live may not be safe for children and vulnerable women who might interact with him.
The comedian said Baba Ijesha should be jailed for life and explained why he did not appear to have served the full 16-year sentence.
Adekola also criticized actor Yomi Fabiyi, accusing him of seeking attention and undermining justice. She claimed Fabiyi had previously faced allegations of misconduct and was trying to interfere with Baba Ijesha’s sentencing.
Adekola reiterated that Baba Ijesha had pleaded guilty and directed her fans to watch the video posted on her Instagram for more details. She also listed some of the areas where the actor had lived, including Lagos Island, Mafurukun, Sabo and Oworo, warning residents to be vigilant in case he returns to these locations.

@yastaiwo: “Please talk about okele, allegedly the girl’s boyfriend, as Yomi Fabiyi said, his stuff was found on the girl>”
@temmiloluwa247: “If he talks nonsense again, he will go back. We must protect our children with force and fire.”
@tayofatodu: “I just hope he learned his lesson.”
@mcdemocrazy: “Please princess let him for God’s sake. He has lost a lot and learned his lessons. But would you be happy if he died there and never made amends? For him to come out years later and it was just a small thing and God still shows love for who we are. Please go rest.”
