The Nigerian film industry is mourning after the death of experienced actor Tom Njemanze.

Filmmaker Stanley Ajemba Chibueze confirmed his death in a social media post Saturday, July 19.

Stanley shared a heartbreaking update, saying, “Good afternoon everyone. It’s a sad moment for Nollywood, as we just received confirmation from Tom Njemanze’s family who died yesterday due to health complications. We did our best, but God knows best. Rest, peace, legend.”

Njemanze called on the public for help earlier after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Stanley Ontop’s online video shared by Stanley Ontop shows that his condition is weak, lying on a hospital bed, supported by oxygen and IV drip.

Stanley has posted details of the actor’s account in an effort to assist, urging well-intentioned Nigerians to provide financial support.

Known for his memorable characters in classic Nollywood movies like Deeded, Issakaba, Issakaba, Osuofia, Magic Cap, Twin Brothers and my school mother Njemanze left a lasting legacy in the industry.
