NSCDC intercepts Zamfara's 1,571-liter petrol smuggled

The commander of the Zamfara state of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Forces (NSCDC) intercepted 1,571 liters of petroleum products that were illegally transported to Jerrycans to robber-prone areas.

Commander Umar Muhammad, speaking to reporters on behalf of state commander Sani Mustapha, revealed that four suspects were arrested in two separate locations. These included two pump attendants at the gas station, as well as two buyers arrested in Birnin Magaji and TSAFE local government areas in the state.

In addition to never authorized transportation of fuel at locations, the suspect also violated executive orders to prohibit the sale of petroleum products in Jerrycans in the state of Zamfara, according to Mohammed.

“Today, we brought four suspects to the four arrested suspects to conduct illegal transactions with a large number of Senior Automotive Spirits (PMSs), which violates the state and state executive orders of Jericas retailers,” he said.

He explained that two of the suspects were arrested in Birnin Magaji with 1,296 liters of fuel, while two other suspects were arrested at TSAFE for 275 liters of product.

The NSCDC assured citizens that the investigation is ongoing and reiterated its commitment to enforce laws to curb illegal fuel transfers and activities that may contribute to the state’s insecurity.
