Oba Oladipo Oladipo Olaito was appointed as the Pang-Yorruba sociopolitical group, leader of Afenifere.
Nigeria News Nalin Pan-Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere has reportedly appointed Oba Oladipo Olaitan as the new leader.
The decision was announced in a monthly communiqué released by the group after the monthly general meeting of shareholders in Isanya Ogbo, the hometown of its late leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
Representatives from six southwestern states attended the meeting, as well as representatives from the Kogi, Kwara and Itsekiri communities in Delta states.
According to the communiqué, Oba Olaitan will serve as the acting leader until after Pa Adebanjo was finally buried, after which he will formally play the role of entity leader.
The communifere was signed by Afenifere’s Secretary-General Sola Ebiseni and National Propaganda Secretary Faloye.

“The meeting considered the recommendations of the National Caucus and approved the appointment of Oba Oladipo Olaitan as the new leader of Afenifere.”
Oba Olaitan was a lawyer who convened Nigerian bars in 1971 and has a long history in politics.
He served as a political adviser to Governor Lateef Jakande and served as a member of the Lagos State Executive Committee from 1979 to 1983.
He was later elected to the House of Representatives and served as the leader of the House of Democratic League (AD) from 1999 to 2003.
Oba Olaitan is a long-time member of Afenifere for over 45 years and has held several key positions, including Ayo, the national finance secretary and deputy leader of Chief Reuben Fasoranti. Deputy leader of Adebanjo).
In his acceptance speech, Oba Olaitan reiterated his mission to Afenifere as a socio-political organization and its advocacy for reorganization and true federalism. He also committed to strengthening the unity of the group.
During the meeting, Afenifere expressed deep concern about the deterioration of the security situation in the country.
The group specifically talked about the case of Prince Enniola Ojajuni, whose kidnapping and torture have been circulating on social media for nearly a week.
They urged Ondo and Kogi’s governments (reported kidnapping) and security agencies to take immediate action to ensure his safe rescue.
Afenifere also paid tribute to the late leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo, acknowledging his great contribution to the construction of the country.
The group noted that in honor of his legacy, a wide tribute from Nigeria and beyond.
They expressed their condolences to his children and immediate family, praised them with their grace and patience, and they received numerous tourists, who continued to visit him in Lekki and Ogun State in Lagos Isanya Ogbo.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to the Afenifere goal and called on the government to act quickly to force security issues.
