In the gubernatorial primary elections at all Progressive Conferences (APCs) at Anambra State University (Obiora Okonkwo), the main aspirants of all Progressive Conferences (APCs) have withdrawn from the competition, citing fears of development inconsistent with his principles and the security of his supporters.
In a letter to his supporters, Okonkwo described his decision as “difficult but necessary” and explained that after careful evaluation, he could no longer catch up with the party’s governor’s vote.
He stressed that the risk of supporters’ lives is too great to be ignored.
“After careful assessment and reflection on the current status of all the progressive assembly primary procedures in Anambra State, I decided to withdraw my desire for the party’s governor’s vote.
“This decision to withdraw from race is a difficult but necessary one, as some developments are inconsistent with my principles and values. The project is not worth risking the lives of supporters,” he said. Okonkwo wrote in the letter.
Okonkwo did not specify the exact nature of the development that led to his evacuation when making the decision, but his focus on the safety of his supporters is crucial.
Despite his withdrawal from the competition, Okonkwo reiterated his commitment to Anambra development and Nigeria’s progress.
He expressed unwavering support for President Bora Tinub’s agenda and committed to contributing to the socio-economic and political development of the country.
“My enthusiasm for public services remains strong and I will continue to contribute to the socio-economic and political development of Anambra State and our country Nigeria.
“I will also continue to implement President Bora Tinubu’s development plan and the economic growth of our country in my own way to achieve economic growth for our fellow countrymen and women.” Okonkwo added.
In his statement, Okonkwo thanked his political partners, stakeholders and supporters for their deep appreciation for their solidarity and trust throughout the campaign. He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to connect with the firm and enthusiastic Anambrarians.
“I thank the political partners, supporters and stakeholders in APC and elsewhere for their trust and support. Okonkwo said.
Two other aspiring people also quit the APC governor primary before Okonkwo evacuated. Chukwuma Umeoji, a former member of the House of Representatives, announced his withdrawal from the competition on Friday and consulted with supporters across the state. Another aspiring man, Paul Chukwuma, resigned completely.
With Okonkwo’s withdrawal, the game is still open to former federal MP Nicholas Ukachukwu. Valentine Ozigbo, PDP candidate for the 2021 governoral election; Johnbosco Onunkwo and Edozie Madu.
