Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga responded to Obi’s statement, believing it was exaggerated and lacked a logical basis.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga warned former Anambra Governor Peter Obi to watch out for his comments after the former governor claimed that Nigerian democracy collapsed.
Obi made a statement on Monday in former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives in Abuja.
According to Obi, “If you look at where we are today, like they (PDP) started in 1999, laying the foundation. Some people come and bring it to the deck, some try to take it to the first floor, and some people come and knock everything.”
He added: “That’s what we are doing now. Everything was knocked down and nothing could work.”

Onanuga responded to Obi’s claim, believing it was exaggerated and lacked a logical basis. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “I have heard many times the statements from former Governor Peter Obi in this clip, where he claimed democracy collapsed in Nigeria. His hyperbolic rhetoric suits headlines, without deep reflection, without deep reflection, without solid logical foundations.”
Onanuga believes that if democracy does collapse, Obi will not be able to express his views freely at the symposium.
“Only Peter, who benefits from the dissatisfaction and dissatisfaction provided by a democracy that benefits from free speech, can perceive the downfall of such democracy through his lens,” he said.
