Angry young man burned down Ifon’s police station in the Ido local government area.
The young man reportedly rushed after he was detained by police and the deceased was allegedly tortured by some officials in the state while he was detained.
Although the tragic incident took place on Saturday night, the whole detail is still sketchy.
According to residents of the area, the incident stems from a crisis on Valentine’s Day. A male resident said protesters mobilized the police department after learning of the victim’s de@th. He explained that the police were overwhelmed by violently prosecuted protesters.
Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the commander’s spokesman, confirmed the incident that more and more police officers have been drafted to the town.
She added that Police Chief Wilfred Afolabi has restored peace on his way to Ifon and prevent any further violence in the area.
