    Osun Varsity student dies while charging and using a cell phone during thunderstorm

    Gbolahan Ojolo, a 100-level student at Osson State University Ilesa University, triggers the lightning d in his residence in Ilesa! ed.

    According to the gathering, Ojolo, a student in the Department of Business Administration, was collecting his phone and playing games on it while attacking the Thunder on Friday, April 18, 2025.

    University Registrar Funso Ojo confirmed the incident in a statement Saturday, April 19, 2025.

    “Orsen State University’s management of Ilesa University is very regrettably announcing that one of its students, D3ath, is a 100th student in the Department of Business Administration, Gbolahan Ojolo.”

    “The unfortunate incident happened on Friday, April 18, 2025. Gbolahan was electrocuted while playing games on his phone, in his room, in a private hotel near the junction of the Prototype Engineering Development Institute, and the voltage was reportedly triggered by a lightning strike during the sting explosion.”

    tHis Registrar said management had informed police that after proper approval, the body of the deceased was taken to the morgue at the Wesleyan Hospital in Ilesa.

    “There has since been a thorough investigation into the situation of the incident.

    “Eliza University has also made the necessary arrangements to support families during intense sad times and will continue to support them during this difficult time.

    “The entire university community mourns the rest of Jiborahhan’s soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, classmates and the Ministry of Commerce and Administration.”
