General Overseer of Volcano and Miracle Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Olukoya and his wife, Pastor Folashade Olukoya, share insights into how they first met and eventually got married in the 1980s.
Dr. Olukoya shared a video interview on his verified Instagram page on Saturday, recounting their early connection. He reveals that their path initially came about through church music, specifically his dedication to teaching black spirituals to church choirs.
“I am a collector of black spirituals and often teach these songs to choirs. I had the opportunity to teach the choir at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) headquarters in Lagos,” he explained.
He added that Rev. Folashard was a member of the choir and shared his passion for this style of music.
"She was a choir member and had a genuine love of black spirituals," he said.
Dr. Olukoya said their relationship was strengthened when he started hosting youth revival meetings after returning from his doctoral studies.
“After completing my PhD, I organized revival meetings for young people. She was interested in these Spirit-led meetings, which brought us closer together,” he pointed out.
He further stated that a spiritual confirmation made him believe that she was destined to be his life partner, prompting him to propose.
“After being told, ‘She is your wife,’ I proposed. She prayed, fasted for three days, and got a positive response.” he said.
Dr. Olukoya also mentioned that his father supported the relationship and they officially started a relationship.
“My father approved of our relationship and we were in a relationship from that point on.” he added.
He concluded by noting that their shared devotion to God and music played a central role in their connection.
“What really brings us together is our shared love for God and our passion for music to glorify Him,” he said.

Sir, the girl you prayed in the arrivals hall, commanded “you will not die” and walked out of the shadow of death shortly after. But God used your prayers Come and save me. I’m whole again. The lump you ordered was reduced significantly without surgery. One time he helped a lady with two kids at the gate and she was wearing pants. Thank you sir.
