Afrobeats in Nigeria feels that Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman (known as Oxlade) joins the growing chorus of voices denouncing the recent mass killings in Benue State.
The singer visited his official X page on Monday, June 16, 2025 to express his anger and grief over the tragic incident.
In his heartfelt post, Oxlade stressed the need for urgent, collective action to address violence. “The killings in Benue cannot remain silent. These lives are killed, families are broken, and future stolen. Nigeria, how many more? This is a national emergency that all of us must participate in,” He tweeted, adding heart emojis, #stopthekillings and #prayforbenue hashtags.
His message is a report of a fatal attack between June 13 and June 14, 2025, in Yelwata, Benue State, allegedly more than 200 people were killed by allegedly armed herders. The incident reportedly killed the entire family, and the victims were active, and was widely condemned by public figures and civil society.
