The OYO state government has approved 4.5 billion guilds as financial support for victims and survivors of the Bodija explosion that occurred on January 16.
The decision was made at a state executive council meeting held on Wednesday, May 14 in the Executive Council meeting of the Governor’s Office.
Information Commissioner Dotun Oyelade Prince said the newly approved funds were that the state had spent more than 200 million guilds after the explosion.
Oyelade also announced that the Council approved a 10-member committee’s recommendation to revoke the title of two properties near Adeyi Avenue – the center of the explosion. He said the state will build a monument on the revoked land to honor the victims.
He noted that the decision was made in the public interest and was part of an effort to close the affected communities.
