Ed Martin, a staunch Trump supporter, recently withdrew the nominee for the District of Columbia attorney, spitting in a live news Marx interview Thursday, May 8.
The incident happened just a few hours after President Donald Trump’s nomination, citing a lack of support. After Trump returned to office, Martin has been a temporary U.S. lawyer since January.
While talking to the Newsmax correspondent, a woman approached, identified him and said, “You are Ed Martin.” She spits as he tries to greet, calls him “a disgusting person” and walks away with her dog. Martin, obviously shocked, walked off the camera.
Newsmax host Ed Henry described the woman as a “crazy left,” while host Rob Schmitt called her “psychotic lib” on X (formerly Twitter), adding: “Hopefully she’s ready to stretch in prison.”

Martin’s nomination has been derailed by growing controversy, including his defense of the Capitol thugs, compliments of Nazi sympathizers and more than 150 appearances in Russian state media. Republican Senator Thom Tillis openly opposed Martin’s confirmation for his participation in the “Stop Steal” campaign.
“I have no tolerance for anyone entering the building on January 6,” Tillis said. “This is where most frictions are.”
Trump admitted the setback: “He didn’t get people’s support. For me, it was disappointing… sometimes it was.”
After that, the president announced his intention to nominate Fox News host and former Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro for the position. Martin will lead the Justice Department’s Weaponization Task Force.
“Ed Martin did a great job,” Trump said in Truth Social. “He will help Biden’s weapons administration victims pass justice to victims.”
