Paystack, the Nigerian payments company owned by Stripe, has suspended its co-founder and chief technology officer Ezra Olubi due to serious misconduct by his subordinates. This development comes after an allegation began to circulate widely on social media on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The company confirmed the suspension decision and explained that it had begun a formal investigation. According to Paystack, Olubi will not perform any duties or represent the company until the process is concluded.
“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our co-founder Ezra Olubi. We take matters like this very seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation,” the company said in a statement released late Wednesday.
Paystack added that out of respect for the individuals involved and to maintain the integrity of the review, it will not comment further until the investigation is complete.
The renewed attention on Orubi comes not only because of the allegation, but also because dozens of his tweets from a decade ago resurfaced online Thursday. Many of the posts were written between 2009 and 2013 and contained explicit comments about colleagues, minors, and references to anime characters.
In a 2011 tweet, he joked about having a hiccup during a meeting. In another post, he said he wanted to secretly film a colleague’s thighs. Several other people cited m*ino3344rs by s3xua4lly in inappropriate contexts. The screenshots spread quickly on social media, sparking widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
