The Edo State government calls on police and other security agencies in the state to investigate the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) about insecurity.

Naija News The report said that the chief press secretary of the governor of Edozhou, Span spanin a statement Tuesday, March 11, 2025, accused PDP of sponsoring insecurity causing chaos and undermining the governor’s government Monday Okpebholo And destroy governance.

According to ITUA, security sources show that some PDP leaders not only fund terrorist acts, but also use them as political tools to impose current governments with bad views.

ITUA said Governor Okpebholo’s administration showed commitment to addressing insecurity through decisive policies and working with security agencies, adding that the PDP was eager to gain power through backdoors and should not be at the expense of public safety.

The statement reads, “At present, evil businessmen have tested the resilience of the Edo country, and individuals have sponsored a surge in violent crime, especially kidnapping and other forms of insecurity.

“It is disturbing that intelligence reports show that these crimes are not only handmade by random criminals, but are sponsored by leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Their goal? To create chaos, undermine the administration of the governor of Okpebholo on Monday and undermine the state’s governance.

“In recent months, Edo residents have witnessed a staggering increase in kidnappings, targeted attacks, and a well-planned misinformation campaign. A tragic carry-over of the government of former Governor Godwin Obaseki.

“Security sources show that certain PDP leaders not only fund these terrorist acts, but also use them as political tools to impose current governments with bad views. This effort aimed at sabotaging the government through fear and propaganda must not be voted for any choice.

“The actions of the PDP are nothing new. During the 2024 Edo elections, non-state players of the former PDP-led government flooded the state with dangerous weapons. Many of these weapons have never been retrieved, leading to the spread of small arms and exacerbating the current security crisis. The weapons that failed to wipe these weapons have allowed criminals to use them now for evil activities, including kidnapping and assassination.

“The PDP leaders do not play the role of responsible opposition, but doubling down on misinformation, sending false statements to the public and international observers. They actively seek to discredit Governor Okpebholo’s security plan while providing tacit support to violent actors. Its implications are terrible because it erodes the public’s trust in governance and further incites criminals.

“Given the weight and security implications of these allegations, Nigerian police and other security agencies must conduct a thorough investigation into the involvement of PDP leaders in these crimes. Individuals or political groups should not be allowed to capture state hostages for political gain. Those found guilty must face the full anger of the law.

“Governor Okpebholo’s government demonstrates a commitment to addressing insecurity through decisive policies and collaboration with security agencies. But if the political actor is indeed the sponsor of Edo crime, the battle must go beyond crime to expose those who pull the strings behind the scenes.

“Apart from the actions of security agencies, citizens of Edo countries must remain vigilant. The PDP desperately gains power through the backdoor and should not come at the expense of public safety. The Edo people must reject the false narratives peddled by these political disruptors and support the government’s real efforts to restore peace and order.

“Insecurity thrives when perpetrators think they are beyond the law. Now is the time for authorities to prove otherwise. A thorough investigation into the role of PDP leaders in the rising wave of kidnapping and armed violence is not only necessary, but long overdue. The security and stability of the Edo country must emerge before partisan interests.”
