The meeting came after the ruling of the Delta PDP structure led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Vice Presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa collapsed into the ruling of the All Progressive Conference (APC).
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) convened an emergency meeting of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja in amid a wave of defectors and ongoing internal crisis.
The closed session was followed by the All Progress Conference (APC) where the Delta PDP structure collapsed to rule, led by Governor Oberevwori and former Vice Presidential candidate ifeanyi okowa.

The defectors who took place after the strategic meeting in Asaba saw Delta’s entire PDP political institution transfer En Bloc to APC.
The massive Exodus included the lieutenant governor Onyeme, member of the state cabinet, senior local government executives and major grassroots agents on Monday.
The PDP NWC is expected to set up a caretaker committee to temporarily handle the party’s affairs in the Delta State.
