    PDP says N200M bribery is a flaw in four legislators to APC

    • Four members of the Edo State Capitol building from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

    • PDP claims lawmakers received a 200 million guild trigger for each, accusing the governor of Okpebholo of using state funds to bribe lawmakers on Monday.

      The APC dismissed the bribery charge, saying lawmakers were out of convictions rather than economic incentives.

    The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) claims that four members of the Edo State Capitol received 200 million n20 million nnn in each to induce flaws on all Progressives Congress (APC).

    Legislators – Donald Okugbe, Bright Iyamu, Richard Edosa and Ojezele on Sunday joined the APC on Wednesday at the secretariat of Benin.

    Chris Nehikhare, the propaganda minister of the PDP caretaker committee, accused Governor Okpebholo of using state funds to bribe lawmakers on Monday.

    “To confirm the alert issued by our party last week, the governor Okpebholo planned to purchase more than PDP lawmakers on Monday, 200 million guilds per person, and now four members have violated it, paying the money in the process.”

    Nehikhare criticized the governor for prioritizing political adjustment over governance, especially when Edo country’s insecurity escalates. “Although insecurity has claimed in the past two weeks that there are at least 40 lives in the community, the Governor has focused on the survival of political horses rather than addressing urgent security issues.”

    Defend their decision to change allegiance, and defectors blame the internal crisis on the internal crisis within the PDP.

    Richard Edosa, who spoke on behalf of the organization, said: “A house is against itself and cannot stand it. We believe in the vision of the Governor Okpebholo on Monday and decided to work with him to realize his plans for Edo. We promise to build a party and a country with him.”

    APC Acting Chairman Jarret Tenebe welcomes lawmakers, describing their moves as a major driver of the ruling party, ensuring that they have equal rights and privileges within the parties.

    “These honorable members bring a wealth of experience and a diverse perspective and they recognize that the APC provides the most promising pathways for Edo and Nigeria.”

    Tenebe dismissed the PDP’s bribery allegations, saying lawmakers were rebelled out of convictions, rather than economic incentives.

    “It’s not only about increasing our numbers, but also strengthening our collective determination. We value the contribution of each member and believe that our new MP will play a crucial role in our journey of success,” he said.

    The Edo National Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) accused Governor Okpebholo of managing various departments on Monday causing setbacks.

    Speaking at a press conference, Tony Aziegbemi, the party’s caretaker committee chairman, claimed that the state suffered a decline in education, health care, security, infrastructure and economy.
