Agents from the Kwara State Fire Department evacuated the body of an unidentified man’s life from the Asa River in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The man is believed to have been recovered to be about 45 years old on Tuesday night, April 22.
State Department of Environment officials reminded the fire department that he was recovered after he was reminded by a fire department of the body floating on the Asa River.
“After receiving the report, a team of firefighters quickly deployed to the scene to prevent potential environmental hazards. The crew successfully retrieved the bodies from the river.
“This incident was reported by officials from the Quawa State Department of Environment who arrived at our operation center in a 17B-D4KW vehicle. They found the body floating on the river and immediately reminded the fire service.
“After receiving the report, a team of firefighters quickly deployed to the site to prevent potential environmental hazards. The crew successfully retrieved the bodies from the river.
“The recovered agency was then handed over to the Ministry of Environment and is now awaiting formal identification and claims from the deceased’s family.
“Kwara State Fire Department Director Falade Olumuyiwa took this opportunity to advise the people of Kwara State to give priority to safety and be more cautious in their daily activities and to prevent the delivery of underage children to family wells for water.”
