The popular Nigerian singer and half of P square, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, broke the silence against ongoing family disputes and fraud charges involving his brothers Paul Okoye and Jude Okoye.
In a series of emotional posts on X, the music star announced that he has officially cut off all ties with them.
The outbreak comes after fans who call for reconciliation with their family, urging him to remember “Family is important.” Peter announced in a swift and unapologetic reaction that their relationship could not be repaired, saying “We are no longer families at the moment. Family is about blood, but real family is loyalty. Don’t let family be the reason for you to silence. I’ve been doing it for over 20 years and it almost gave me everything.”
He further added “Love won’t be manipulated, loyalty won’t betray, and family won’t steal it from you. If that makes my mental health cost, that’s too expensive! #idisownthem.”
The singer’s explosive comments come after recent legal proceedings, with Jude Okoye’s lawyer accusing Peter of providing false information about his financial and academic history in an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). Peter Okoye reacted to these claims “I’m not Mayd or Cynthia Morgan. I’m Peter Okoye. Only the rocks of Okoyes. The truth will prevail.”
Peter revealed in a touching follow-up that the tragic death of rapper Mohbad last year made him vow to never remain silent in his betrayal. “After watching everything about Mohbad’s death and how it works, I decided I would never play a bigger person again. Love me or hate me and I will continue to tell my truth.”
The singer’s revelation has since sparked a fierce online reaction, with fans expressing shock, support and mixed opinions on the consequences of a highly publicized one of Afrobeats’ most iconic families.
At present, we are no longer a family! Family is related to blood, but the real family is loyalty…. Like I said before! “Don’t let family be the reason for you to be silent. I did – over 20 years. It took almost everything I had. But now I know better – love not… https://t.co/yte82ir777j
