Agents from the Kano State Police Department arrested 33 suspected thugs, known as Yan Daba, and recovered dangerous weapons, illegal drugs and stolen property.
The commander’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed the statement in a statement on Monday, April 28, 2025, saying the arrest was conducted in a series of purges led by intelligence within the Kano Metropolitan.
“The Kano State Police Department is pleased to announce that the headquarters tactical team has successfully carried out the clearance operation with direct instructions and direct supervision of the Chief of Police,” the statement said.
“The team led by O/C anti-DABA team CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe was operated from April 23 to 28, 2025 at the flash point in the Kano State Metropolitan.
“The actions based on viable intelligence resulted in the arrest of 33 (33) (33) suspicious thugs (Yan Daba) who used dangerous weapons, illegal drugs and other robbery of property as an exhibition.
“In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to all Police Commands and Forms to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for all residents, the Kano State Police Command reaffirms its commitment to upholding this directive by conducting round-the-clock visibility patrols, intelligence-led raids, evidence-based investigations, enhanced community policying capabilities and maintain peace and security throughout the state.
“State Police Commissioner CP Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori thanked the public for their ongoing support and cooperation. He urged citizens to maintain this synergy by providing valuable information that could help order efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety.
