Police arrest man for belittling 16-year-old girl in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested an Abdulmalik Sanni, allegedly a 16-year-old in Igbesa in the state’s Adoo Odo/Ota local government area.

State Commander’s spokesman CSP Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident in a statement Tuesday, March 4, saying Sanni committed the crime on February 28, 2025.

According to Odutola, the victim, accompanied by his father, submitted a report to police on Sunday.

“On March 2, 2025, at about 6:40 pm, a 16-year-old girl visited the police station with her father to report the incident,” PPRO said.

“According to the victim, on February 28, 2025, Abdulmalik Sanni bought her Indian noodles and after eating them, she fell asleep in his room. Although she fell asleep, Sanni allegedly agreed with her, without her consent, and when she woke up, she found herself naked.”

Odutola revealed that the suspect admitted to the crime after being arrested and claimed the 16-year-old victim was his girlfriend.

“After receiving the report, a group of investigators was assigned to the case. Statements were obtained from the complainant and the suspect. It is worth noting that the suspect provided a statement of confession accusing the victim of his girlfriend.”

“The investigation is currently underway. After the preliminary investigation, the suspect will be transferred to Eleweran’s state criminal investigation department for further investigation.”
