
Butch State Police Command has arrested a suspect allegedly with Alhaji Isa Muhammad Wabi, chairman of the state’s Jamare local government! (Youth Congress)
The commander’s spokesman, CSP, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, revealed this in a statement Friday, May 2, 2025, saying Wabi was attacked by his son’s acquaintance.
According to PPRO, Ahmad Abdulkadir, known as Ajebo, Ahmad Abdulkadir and Faruk Malami entered Wabi’s residence on Thursday night, May 1 and beat him with a knife and hammer.
The deceased suffered multiple stabs in the neck and was quickly evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he died while receiving medical care.
One of the suspects, Faruk Malami, found unconscious at the scene, probably due to retaliation by the angry person. He was taken to the hospital and later declared D3AD.
Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed was detained.
The statement said: “On May 2, 2025, about 0403 hours, the Police Command received a distress call from the Good Samaritans involving an attack on a group of young people in Fadaman Mada, an incident behind the government women’s high school Bauchi,” the statement said.
“In response, a dedicated military officer was sent to the scene. They found that due to the injuries suffered in the attack, Mr. Isa Muhammad Wabi, 66, the former chairman of Jama’are LGA. He was quickly evacuated to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Hospital Bauchi Bauchi Bauchi to seek medical care.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances of his son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, aged 24. The investigation suggests that Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 0300 hours and subsequently conspired to assault Mr. Wabi. He sustained multiple stall wounds to the neck.
“In the related development, one of the suspects Ajebo found unconscious at the scene, which may be due to retaliation by the irritated person. He was also taken to the hospital, where he was later declared D3AD. Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been detained, has been questioned and has provided valuable information to the authorities.
“The headquarters is conducting a thorough investigation to reveal the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and to ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice.
“The Chief of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu PSC (+), MNI visited the houses of the deceased, expressed condolences to families affected by this tragic incident and assured them that the investigation will strive to pursue those responsible for this grieving act.”
