CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday, February 24, saying the couple had met Loggerhead in a previous relationship between Salamatu’s 6-year-old daughter.
He said;
“On February 24, 2025, the commander of the Bauchi State Police Department arrested Salamatu Danjuma, 25-year-old Nadabo of Tafawa Balewa Lga The resident of the village (Nadabo Balewa Lga) died tragically with her husband, and after a family dispute, her husband died tragically.”
“Preliminary investigations show that the couple faces ongoing marital challenges in custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter in previous relationships.
“Although the initial discussion with the family seemed to enjoy welcoming the children into their homes, the husband later refused, which heightened tensions between them.
“The situation escalated sharply when Salamatu was zipped by her husband’s rejection and in a moment of heated debate, using a knife that led to the unfortunate outcome.
A call in distress was quickly responded to, and detectives from the headquarters of the Bununu Police Department were drafted to the scene. They evacuated the victim to the goat hospital in Bennununu for immediate medical assistance.
“Unfortunately, the attending medical staff later confirmed her husband’s D3ATH due to injuries caused.
“In view of these incidents, the Police Commissioner, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, PSC, Anipr, has directed the National Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and cautious investigation into the matter.
“After the investigation, appropriate legal proceedings will be taken.”
