“Despite the ransom of Naira (N2,000,000) was paid to the kidnapper, the bodies of the deceased were later recovered and stored in the morgue.
“Following relentless investigative efforts and intelligence led policying, on April 3, 2025, at about 0730hrs, operations of the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU), Emohua, in collaboration with intelligence gathered from two earlier arrested opinions in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, launched a tactical operation on the kidnappers’ hideout located in a creek off the Bonny Waterway.
“After reaching the hiding place, the operators were subjected to heavy gunfire from the homeless. The convoy responded with decisive force, and in the subsequent exchange, the two suspects were fatally injured, while others were subjected to varying degrees of injury.
“Two initial suspects took the team to the site to try to escape during close combat, but were later arrested with gunshot wounds.
“In continuing to comb the creek, the following exhibitions were restored: an operating speedboat, an 80-hp and a 70-hp outboard engine, a late cell phone (the SIM card was removed), a real-time cartridge and a food supply used by the kidnapper.
“The Chief of Police, Rivers CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju praised the soldiers of the order as this development marked a significant breakthrough in the continued efforts to get rid of our waterways and criminal communities.
