
Police allegedly attacked civilians after a video of Abia State Police Command flowed on Facebook. The incident reportedly took place along Lagos Street in Ebony on February 20, quickly gaining attention on social media.
In a statement released on Friday, February 21, the commander’s spokesman, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed that the officials involved had been identified and are currently under state criminal investigation in Umi Ashiya state. SCID conducted interrogation.
“The Abia State Police Command knows there is a trending video on Facebook that depicts some police officers manipulating civilians. The incident allegedly took place on the streets of Lagos in Ebony on October 20, 2025. .” The statement said. “The officials involved have been identified and are currently being tried under the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The public will be updated after necessary administrative litigation is taken against the officers who have made the mistake.”
The state police chief CP Danladi Isa condemned the officials’ actions, marking them as violations of professional standards, and ignoring the dignity of the public. He reiterated his commitment to ensure that officers under his leadership uphold the rule of law and respect the public.
“He reiterated that under his leadership, the Command is committed to ensuring professional competence in keeping with the vision of the Police Inspector General, in line with the legal and human-friendly police force,” the statement concluded.
