
The Kano State Police Department banned all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration, citing security concerns and the need to maintain public order.
The news was announced by Police Commissioner CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori at a press conference at the Bompai Police Headquarters on Friday, March 28.
According to the police boss, security assessments show that tensions and potential threats related to Durbar are growing, which could lead to unrest.
“Following the unfortunate intelligence report, planning plans for wrongdoing and its sponsors to use Duba for destructive activities, the commander consulted with the Kano State Government and other key stakeholders, has decided to ban all Duba activities throughout the state,” CP Bakori said. ”
The Commissioner assured the residents that appropriate safety measures have been taken to maintain the Eid prayer for prescribed reasons. He urged worshippers to comply with safety guidelines, including avoiding carrying unnecessary objects that may cause suspicion and strictly prohibit horse riding (KILISA), racing and reckless driving.
He also urged parents and guardians to warn their children against being used by subversive factors and to adhere to public order to prevent violations of peace.
“As we celebrate, it is crucial that we remember peace is vital. We must abandon our differences and work together as law-abiding citizens and the progress of the nation, nation,” CP Bakori said
The Police Commander also called for continued cooperation with security agencies and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
