A ceramic company (Ajele Oloyede) in Igbesa, Ogun State, reportedly killed himself in his duty position due to gunshot wounds.
The incident occurred Thursday and was discovered by an officer in Lagos, an attached force headquarters.
According to Ogun State Police Public Relations Official Odutola Odutolathe late official was stationed at the company as part of its security details.
When Stephen arrived at the security office, he found Oloyd put his head on the table. When asked about his condition, the inspector assured his colleagues that he was fine.
Odutola explained that Stephen then placed his bag and pistol on the table and stepped into the bathroom.
“A moment later, I heard the gunshots.” She said.
According to reports, Stephen rushed back and found Oloyd lying in blood.
“With the help of private security personnel, the injured officer was immediately taken to OTA General Hospital, but he was later pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.” Odetola said.
After the tragic incident, police visited the scene, recovered the deceased’s service pistol and stored his body in OTA General Hospital for an autopsy.
A police spokesman confirmed that the case will be transferred to the Eleweran State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
“His family has been notified and a comprehensive investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.” Odutola added.
