A police officer from the Nigerian police force was arrested to harass a man in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja on camera.
The viral video shows the officer verbally abused the young man, claiming he was only trying to support his neighbors during the controversy.
The official claimed the man insulted him, which is why he ordered the man to follow him into the “area order.”
The video sparked anger, and the police complaint response department confirmed through a post handled by its official X (formerly Twitter) that the official has been arrested.
The department also called on victims to visit their offices and provided more details to aid further investigation.
The police department wrote on X in response: “The officials in the videotape of the virus have been identified and arrested and the authorities have been contacted. We encourage the complainant (victim) to come forward for further investigation. Thank you.”
