Anambra State Police Command has relisted an Ikemefuna Ossai in K! Dnapping suspect, recently HON committed M#. Justice Azuka, representing members of the Onitsha 1 constituency of the Anambra State Capitol.
The MP was kidnapped by gunmen in the Inland Town on December 24, 2024. A joint security team recovered his broken body on February 6, 2025 at the Neiger Bridge in Onitsha and arrested nine suspects related to the kidnapping and M8rder. In a statement released today on May 13, State Police Command spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the re-arrest of one of the fugitives was caused by hard and intelligence-led operations. Ikenga mentioned that suspects who had escaped custody were tracked in Nigeria and even in neighboring West African countries.
“Eventually, he was arrested on May 7, 2025 in Asaba, Delta. The suspect tried to escape arrest after seeing the agents, but quickly surrendered in the process and suffered gunshot wounds. ”
He added that viable information obtained from the suspects is currently assisting in ongoing operations. He further added that the State Police Command has introduced relevant stakeholders in its continued commitment to transparency and accountability, including the families of the late MP and leaders of the Anambra State Capitol. During the engagement, he said the police commissioner admitted and regretted the operational error that led to the suspect’s early escape. He added that the order exacerbated efforts to arrest the remaining fugitives and dismantle criminal networks responsible for this outrageous crime.
