
The headquarters spokesman CSP Moses Joel Yamu revealed this in a statement on Sunday, April 20, saying the kidnappers shot a woman during the rescue operation, but she is currently responding to treatment.
Yamu said the victim was stationed in Edo North with the anti-kidnapping team working with the Vigilantes and Hunters.
“The Edo State Police Command rescued two other (2) victims on April 18, 2025 on 2115 hours, demonstrating its commitment to addressing crimes in the state,” the statement said.
“This further reports a case that reported on January 14, 2025 at the Iyamhoe Department Police Headquarters that a woman and her sister were shot and fatally injured her husband in the Oluk community. The injured man was taken to a hospital where he was killed by a doctor.
“In a quick response, the DPO, the anti-kidnapping team was stationed in northern Edo and carried out a rescue operation accompanied by a vigilant/hunter and pursued the kidnappers to rescue the victims and arrest the kidnappers.
“The resilience and determination of the agents led to the rescue of two (2) women, namely Esther 32 and Esther Iregbeyen 23, who were abandoned and fled due to increasing pressure from the security team.
“Unfortunately, the kidnapper shot a woman with frustration, but she is currently responding to treatment.
“At the same time, the FDC’s CP on Monday, unrestricted police commissioners are developing crimes that will adopt strategies to further crime and stop criminals.”
