President Bola Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Baboute Ogunji as the new federal accountant.
Ogunjinmi’s appointment was approved Tuesday after a strict selection process on March 7, 2025, with the current Oluwatoyin Madehin retiring on the same day.
Ogunjimi, 57, was first appointed Madehin’s successor on Tuesday, March 4, in December last year, according to a statement released by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
Onanuga said the selection committee later selected him through a competitive, rigorous and performance-based process involving accounting directors in federal civil servants.
“The committee conducted the process through three phases – written assessment, ICT competency testing and oral interviews.
The selection process underscores President Tinob’s ability to promote transparency, excellence and critical public service positions.
Ogunjimi graduated from the University of Nigeria in 1990 and graduated from the University of Nigeria with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He also received his Master of Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria and the Institute of Taxation in Nigeria. ”
President Tinubu congratulated Ogunjimi on his appointment and urged him to fulfill his duties in Nigeria with integrity, professionalism and dedication to Nigeria’s service.
