Pretty actress Sarah Martins apologizes to Lagos State Commissioner for cooking for poor people in public

Actress Sarah Martins has issued a public apology after the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, scolded her for cooking on the roads in the state.

Last year, the Lagos State Government warned the actress, who finds time to cook for the poor and other hungry people, not to cook on the road.

The state government at the time banned her from cooking on the road, insisting her behavior was unsafe and violated the state’s traffic laws.

Sarah stopped for a while, but last week, she was back cooking on the streets. According to her, she missed the street children and decided to go back and cook for them.

Wahab condemned Sarah’s actions in a statement released on Saturday, March 7. He mentioned that she had been warned about her cooking style before and he was surprised that she went back and did the same thing. He stressed that while her charity was appreciated, cooking on the road was not allowed. He further said she should stop cooking on the road or risk arrest and prosecution.

Sarah has now apologized. She posted on her Instagram page:

    “Dear Commissioner Wahab Tokunbo,

It is with great respect that I write this letter regarding the concerns raised by my recent experience cooking with some vulnerable street children.

I want to clarify for the record that I did not cook on the sidewalk or the main street. Meals are prepared in front of the King’s Palace under the supervision of security personnel and the event takes place well away from the main road to ensure it does not impede movement or cause any public nuisance.

The visit came just out of an exciting moment. I deeply miss the bond I had with the vulnerable street children in the area. When I occasionally drive through that axis, the kids often beg me to come back and cook with them, just like I used to. On this special day, I decided to spend some time with them and prepare a meal, purely to reconnect and create memories with the children who have always expressed their sincere love to me.

I would also like to highlight that Mr. Seyi Tinubu (@seyitinubu) has graciously provided a charity kitchen to my foundation specifically to ensure that our feeding programs are conducted in an appropriate and organized environment. I do not take his generosity for granted and my foundation remains committed to using the charity kitchen for our regular feeding events.

My brief return to the location was not to create any kind of public nuisance, but simply to share a heartfelt moment with the kids who kept asking me to be there.

However, if my behavior is considered inappropriate in any way, I sincerely apologize. I have great respect for the laws and environmental standards of Lagos State. Going forward, I will ensure that all cooking events take place strictly within the charity kitchen provided by the Foundation.

Thank you for your understanding and the excellent work your office continues to do in maintaining environmental order in Lagos State.

    Sincerely,

    Sarah Martins
