A Department of Correctional Services (DCS) watchman allegedly was in front of her 9-year-old son in South Africa, with his girlfriend 25 times.
The suspect Kakuhle Mpongoma appeared in Mthatha District Court on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, where he was charged with attempted murder.
According to the state prosecutor, Mpongoma also faces attacks with the intention to cause serious charges of personal injury.
The 39-year-old was hired as warden at the Wellington factory.
NPA East Kaijiao spokesman Luxolo Tyali said in explanation of the merits of the case that the defendant allegedly attacked her girlfriend’s domestic worker over 25 times.
“My girlfriend is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital and cannot speak,” Tiali said.
“The attack on two women last weekend was allegedly witnessed by the couple’s nine-year-old son.”
The NPA said the matter has been adjourned until March 11, 2025 to conduct a formal bail application. Tiali said the state plan opposed the application.
