Serie A has announced groundbreaking moves for the upcoming Italian Cup semi-finals and finals, which will provide real-time explanations of VAR (video assistant referee) decisions for fans at the stadium and home.
The decision was revealed by the league on Monday, March 24, as an important step to improve football transparency.
In the bipedal semifinal, which included the highly anticipated Milan Derby, and in the May final, Serie A tested audio technology, which allows referees to communicate their decision-making process to fans. This technology will be specifically used for referees to make live comments after prompts from the var control room.
Additionally, Serie A will introduce “Vardict” this weekend, a feature designed to keep fans informed in VAR reviews. The system will display information on the large screen of the stadium and inform the audience when it is revised through VAR or undergoes lengthy reviews.
These initiatives are expected to enhance the overall fan experience and provide greater clarity in VAR-related decisions in the league.
