The House of Representatives’ Interim Committee on Oversight of Rivers State has convened Deputy Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-eete Ekwe Ibas, the sole Chief Executive of Rivers State, to appear under the ongoing state of emergency rule in the state on Thursday, April 17.
National Assembly Resolution The Commission, which constituted the Commission, at its first session held at the National Assembly Complex on Wednesday, April 16, at the Abuja National Assembly Complex, endorsed the announcement of the President of the Rivers’ State of Emergency.
The group took over the function of hanging the He State Capitol.
The meeting was followed by the formal inauguration of the committee. Since the sole administrator served, House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen has provided members with a platform designed to consider preliminary reports and developments emerging from the River State.
House spokesman Akin Rotimi revealed this in a statement, saying that under his constitutional mandate, the Commission decided to invite Ibas to appear at the integrated interactive meeting under Article 11(4) of Article 11(4) of the 1999 Constitution (Amended).
According to Julius Ihonvbere, chairman of the committee and leader of the House, engagement must be made to determine the true condition of the River State and to ensure that the House still properly guides it to fulfill its oversight responsibilities for the public interest.
The sole administrator is expected to appear at 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Room 414, the new House Building in the National Assembly Complex of Abuja.
“The formal invitation has been sent and confirmed. This public statement is intended to enhance transparency in the committee’s litigation,” he said.
“The Committee reaffirms its commitment to diligence, transparency and strict adherence to the Nigerian Constitution.”
