On Friday, April 25, Rivers State Justice Department Ibok-Eber Ibbs (Rtd.) Deputy Chief Executive met with the state’s overseen House Deputy Committee after he was unable to commemorate the group twice in a row.
Ibas apologized for his absence when he was invited and dismissed his claims of ignoring the committee. He said his absence was due to the weight and urgent demands of stable governance in the next state.
Ibas said he is fully committed to working with the Commission and ensuring that all relevant information is provided in due course to support his important work.
“I am very sorry that I cannot join the committee that respected as you said. Today is exactly what it is.
Of course, absence is not a disregard, but a result of the numerous and urgent demands for stable governance of the country in the case of a declared emergency. I have always held the National Assembly with the highest importance. I recognize the importance of your supervisory responsibilities and your interest in the progress made in the River State, which is currently relatively calm but still vulnerable.
That is, I only ask for your understanding and the indulgence of the committee in order to give me more time to fully prepare and provide a comprehensive and constructive briefing. Given the complexity and sensitivity of the current transition period in River State, it is important that any interaction with the Commission must have depth, accuracy and clarity, as it should be.
I am still fully committed to working with the Commission and ensuring that all relevant information is provided when appropriate to support your important work. I would like to express my special thanks to the Mr. Chairman and the outstanding members of the Committee for their understanding and to continue to serve the Federal Republic of Nigeria. ” Ibas said.
Therefore, the committee is led by House Leader Hon. Julius Ihonvbere (APC, EDO) accepted an apology from the sole administrator and approved his request to reschedule the meeting so that he could prepare for the briefing.
“In order to be in line with the House tradition of fairness and to recognize the administrator’s performance of respect and responsibility, the committee thoroughly accepted his apology.
Therefore, the Committee decided to make a rescheduled engagement at the date and time of the announcement at due time.
The Commission reiterates its commitment to fulfill its constitutional mandate under articles 11 (4) and 88 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) with diligence, impartiality and in the best interests of democratic governance and national stability.
Cooperation among all stakeholders in this process is crucial and the Commission remains willing to constructively engage in compliance with the principles of accountability and rule of law. ”
