My dear good people from River State
1. Recall that River State was established in six months of emergency rules, by Mr. President, his Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR announced that on March 18, 2025, following a serious political crisis in our state.
2. There is no doubt that the past six months have been challenging for our dear country under the emergency rules.
3. As your governor, I accepted the State of Emergency Declaration and chose to work with Mr. President and the National Assembly and guided by my beliefs, I don’t think that there is much sacrifice to ensure peace, stability and progress in the River State.
4. That’s why I also refuse to challenge the pressure to challenge the constitutionality of declaring an emergency, the suspension of democratic institutions, and all the other actions we follow in this difficult time.
5. Over the course of six months, the President has been kindly and successfully promoted the peace process with all parties. Our leaders, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Con, all members of the State Capitol of Rivers, I, as your governor, have accepted the axe of burial and buried peace and reconciliation in the best interests of our dear River State.
6. We believe that the political crisis is now behind, and peace and stability are back in the River State again, Although it is not without the difficult lessons learned from the emergency rules.
7. The responsibility now depends entirely on us: the government, the state capitol, political leaders and stakeholders abandon our differences, work for the common good, and improve the interests of our people. It is our responsibility to ensure that the peace we receive remains permanent in our dear river state.
8. On behalf of the good people in the Government and Rivers, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. President’s fatherly tendencies and decisive intervention to resolve the political crisis and to generously restore full democratic governance of our country.
9. Personally, I will never take Mr. President’s kindness for granted. For this, I hereby reiterate my greatest loyalty and eternal gratitude.
10. For those who express real fear, frustration and uncertainty in the peace process in nature, I assure you that your concerns are effective and understandable. However, there is no irreversible loss. There are still plenty of opportunities to make the necessary adjustments, ongoing reconciliation and inclusion. We all have to remember this sentence… “The most expensive peace is cheaper than the cheapest war.”
11. So let’s take this moment as a new beginning. Let us work with new hope and determination to build a stronger, more peaceful and prosperous river country. I assure you that we will continue to work hard to make sure we are with everyone.
12. Despite the turmoil, you know the reliable milestones our government has achieved in infrastructure, education, health care and other key sectors over the past two years.
13. Our direct responsibility is to restore the path of governance and development by ensuring that projects that are not funded or neglected begin to be completed, thus restoring our economy, protecting life and property, and improving the well-being of all river people.
14. I am committed to working in harmony with the River State Capitol to restore lost reasons and to accelerate the social and economic development of our dear country. I also updated my commitment to God’s fear, humility and high sense of responsibility.
15. I want to sincerely thank you, the resilient man of Rivers State, for your patience, courage and peaceful behavior during your six months of emergency reign.
