    • Oil and gas-generating communities in the Niger Delta warned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the river state that could trigger guerrilla warfare in the region.

    • The communities expressed concern that the recent explosion of Trans-Niger Oil Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area, Ogoni City, River State.

    • Joseph Ambakaderimo urged the federal government to review the contracts to ensure inclusiveness and equity for all stakeholders.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the River State and has encountered warnings from oil and gas production communities in the Niger Delta that could trigger guerrilla warfare in the region.

The communities expressed concern that the recent explosion of the Trans-Niger oil pipeline in Bodo, the Gokana local government area of River State, may be related to the victimized former official leaders who felt the situation in the pipeline surveillance contract.

“A state of emergency can lead to guerrilla warfare, and this country is not ready for such a horrible situation,” said Joseph Ambakaderimo, chairman of the board of directors of the Community Development Commission.

He claimed that some former aides involved in pipeline surveillance contracts have been eliminated and could use the River State crisis to destroy pipelines to draw attention to their dissatisfaction.

Ambakaderimo criticized President Tinubu’s decision, believing that the situation is still manageable and that there is no guarantee of a state of emergency. He urged the federal government to review the contract urgently to ensure inclusiveness and equity for all stakeholders.

He said: “That is why I urge the federal government to review the contract urgently to ensure inclusiveness and equity for all stakeholders.

He also called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to reverse the decision through senior politicians seeking dialogue with President Tinubu.

Ambakaderimo condemned the state’s 27 lawmakers for ignoring the Supreme Court’s decision and blasting the fubara at the request of its political leader Nyesom Wike and prioritizing its own political interests through blasting the governor.

“For me, a state of emergency could lead to a full-scale guerrilla conflict, and if that happens, daily crude oil production will drop, which will be catastrophic for the country’s economy.”

He stressed that President Tinob should reconsider his decision, believing that doing so would be aligned with the broader goal of ensuring peace and enhancing oil production.

He added: “Cancel the state of emergency will be the president’s commitment to peace and economic stability.”

Fubara breaks silence in the river’s emergency

River Governor Sim Fubara, River Governor Sim Fubara, called for peace in the state during the ongoing political crisis. Fubara’s standoff with the federal capital’s territorial minister Nyesom Wike led to President Bola Tinubu suspending him for six months and declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.

“I speak to you today with a deep sense of responsibility and calmness as we have encountered this unfortunate moment in state political history.
