    Legendary football icon Ronaldo Nazário, known for his career at Real Madrid and Brazil’s national team, officially withdrawing his candidacy for the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF).

    Ronaldo’s vision for Brazilian football

    The two-time FIFA World Cup champion announced that he intends to run for the CBF president in December 2024 with the aim of restoring Brazil’s football reputation, after years of scandal involving federal leadership.

    His campaign focused on transparency, dialogue and solidarity to promote the sport in Brazil.

    Lack of support from the National Federation

    Despite his ambitions, Ronaldo faces major challenges in gaining support from the state league.

    In his initial discussion, 23 of the 27 federations refused to interact with him or consider his suggestions, expressing satisfaction with the current leader under Ednaldo Rodrigues.

    Officially withdraw the announcement

    Ronaldo officially withdrew his candidacy in light of overwhelming support for Rodrigues and his reluctance to accept change.

    He expressed his disappointment at the lack of open reform and acknowledged the challenges of navigating institutions’ politics within Brazilian football.
