The Kremlin has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks about being “very angry” and “angry” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump refers to Putin’s position on putting Ukraine under “interim administration” and removing Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelensky from his office while the two countries work to reach a peace deal.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in addressing the comments on Monday that some of the words were explanations rather than direct quotes and acknowledged “several different statements.”
According to Peskov, Moscow continues to rebuild bilateral relations with Washington and peace in Ukraine.
“First of all, we continue to work with the United States to establish bilateral relations, which has suffered a huge loss during the last administration,” Peskov told reporters on a regular conference call.
“We are also working on implementing some ideas related to Ukraine’s reconciliation. This work is underway and so far we have no details and we have to inform you.”
Asked about the possibility of the two leaders calling this week, Peskov said it was not Putin’s schedule yet, but could be organized very quickly “if necessary.”
